HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?
Laser tattoo removal works by sending quick pulses of light into the skin, which break the ink particles into tiny pieces. Once the ink is shattered, your body’s immune system naturally removes it over time — just like it would with any tiny particle it doesn’t need.
Each session fades the tattoo a bit more, and with multiple treatments, the ink fades away completely or enough to be covered or corrected.
It’s a safe and effective way to remove both permanent makeup (like old brows or eyeliner) and body tattoos, with minimal risk when done professionally.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Consultation & Patch Test
When considering laser tattoo removal, we start with a consultation and patch test to talk about the treatment and the results you want. Some want complete removal, others want enough lightening to cover the area with fresh permanent makeup or body art.
The patch test is done to see which settings on the machine are to be used most effectively for your tattoo.
2. Treatment
For eyebrows, it takes about 10 seconds per brow. For bigger tattoos, it's also a very quick process, but depends more on the size.
You'll hear a crackling sound and feel a snap like an elastic band on the skin, as we treat the area. The treatment itself is very quick with minimal discomfort.
3. Post treatment
The skin can be red and feel tender for a few hours. There can be minor swelling present as well.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I need? This will depend entirely on the treatment area and how many layers of ink or pigment are present. For eyebrows, usually between 1-3 but it can be more if you've had many permanent makeup treatments. For body art, it can be anywhere between 6-12 and sometimes more than that.
What’s the healing process like? The area can be red and tender for a few hours up to a few days after. There can also be localised swelling.
Will it hurt? Laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable. We use ice packs to provide local pain relief but you can expect for it to be nippy. The good thing is it's over before you know it!
Is it safe? Yes, it's a completely safe treatment to have done. All treatments are done under the strictest health and safety regulations.
